Spiritual Quality

Do not be deceived; God is not mocked.  A man reaps what he sow.  Galatians 6:7

We might wonder why so little is accomplished in the world for the great work that God has in hand.  The fact is that it is surprising that so much has been done through people of such weak faith.

Let it be said again and again that holiness of life is the divine standard of religion (Christianity). Nothing short of this will satisfy the divine requirement.  People can do many good things and yet not be holy in heart and righteous in conduct. They can do many good things and yet lack that spiritual quality of the heart called holiness.

Strive towards higher spiritual quality and holiness through Christ Jesus, so that He can use you to do His great work on earth.

Prayer: O Lord, I want you to use me to do great things for You.  I want my actions and my heart to speak of righteousness before you.  Please guide me.  Amen

E.M. Bounds

If you are looking for a good book on Prayer I recommend anything by E.M. Bounds.

The above quotation comes from a small book entitled, The Power of Prayer.  This book contains a daily reading of One Minute Devotions.

I suggest getting a one volume edition that contains all of Bounds' works.  The one volume contains at least seven of E.M. Bounds' works on prayer:

1. Purpose in Prayer
2. The Necessity of Prayer
3. The Possibilities of Prayer
4. Essentials of Prayer
5. Obtaining Answers to Prayer
6. Power Through Prayer
7. The Weapon of Prayer

James 5:16 says, "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman...or boy or girl) avails much.

Are you qualified to be used by God?  Am I?  Not until we have met God in prayer.

Preach the Word with Passion

Last Sunday I had the opportunity to worship at the Brooklyn Tabernacle in Brooklyn, New York.  This is the church that is known for its choir, the famous Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.  But the church has more than a good choir.  It is filled with authentic Christians who love the Lord.  It has a Man of God for a pastor. It is a place of prayer and a place of miracles.

Jim Cymbala, the pastor, has a new book entitled, "STORM, Hearing Jesus For The Times We Live In." In it he wrote, "If pastors preach with the passion that comes from being with Christ, won't the audience fall more in love with the Lord?"  My friend Bill Welte, CEO of America's Keswick, gave me a copy of the book.  It is a good read and it gives examples of the kind of courage and passion pastors need today.

Preach the Word!
