KESWICK IN JAPAN

In just a few days I will have the honor and privilege of returning to Japan to speak in a series of Keswick Christian Life Conventions. To say that this is a blessing to my heart would be an understatement. Last year, 2011, Japan celebrated the 50th anniversary of Keswick Christian Life Convention. From one who has seen the Japan Keswick Conventions up close and personal I can assure you that our Christian brothers and sisters in Japan take the series of Keswick Conventions in February very seriously. The conventions in Japan are modeled after the "Mother Keswick" in England. That great Christian Life Convention in England was founded in 1875 by a group of pastors and laymen who had a hunger and a thirst to know fullness of life in Jesus Christ.

Japan Keswick leaders have guarded their Keswick Conventions carefully to protect the integrity of the message of the convention. You see, Keswick Conventions have an aim...a specific purpose. That purpose is that all in attendance will be drawn into a deeper, more personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ through the preaching of God's word.

I have known of the Japan Keswick Conventions for many years. My association with the late Dr. Stephen F. Olford, who was a frequent speaker at Japan Keswicks, brought me into direct contact with this ministry as well as other Keswick Conventions and Christian Life Conventions around the world. I spoke for the first time at a Japan Keswick in 2008. In two of the conventions in which I spoke I was teamed with Jonathan Lamb, who at the time was chairman of the Keswick Convention in England. (It was a great blessing to my life to have that time with Jonathan. He is wonderful man of God.) I was also teamed with Dr. Ted Rendall of Olford Ministries International. Brother Ted and his wife, Hester, are always a blessing to my llfe.

In 2008 God put Japan in my heart. My ministry there is a ministry of genuine love for the people. I have found in Japan some of the most earnest Christians I have ever known. My life is deeply, deeply enriched each time I go to minister there. You will read in a moment that I am scheduled to preach in Sendai. Would you please pray especially for my days there as I minister message of Christ against the back drop of the tragedy of March 11, 2011, when that region was devasted by the tusnami and earthquake.

This year I will speak in Sendai, Osaka, Kobe, Hakone and Tokyo. I would appreciate your prayers for God's anointing upon the Keswick Conventions and my fellow speakers.

Possessing Our Spiritual Possessions

In 1969, I was a senior in high school. I had been a Christian for one year and was at the time sensing God's call to vocational ministry...to be a preacher. It was during those early days in my Christian life that I saw first hand the divine providence of God. It was in those early days that I learned the value of investing my life into the lives of others. It was by the providence of God that I was invited to a meeting in the home of a man and woman, husband and wife, who had come to know the meaning of the Christian life. It was as a result of a "crisis" in the lady's life that she had a life changing encounter with Christ and at that time committed to God to share the secrets of the victorious Christian life with others for as long as she would live. This she did. This wonderful couple held a meeting in their home on the second Monday night of each month. I remember it as the "Second Monday Night" meeting. It was by providence and, in many ways, a miracle that I was an invited guest to these meetings. You see, I was just a country boy with very few connections with people in town. The host and hostess of the "Second Monday Night" meeting were people of position and influence. But, God in his goodness arranged for me to be a part of this informal and unofficial discipling process. (We did not call it mentoring or discipling back then...it was just sharing with others what Christ had done for you.)

The "Second Monday Night" meetings began in a large den and about 12 to 20 people were present. Our hostess sat in a chair near a reel to reel tape player. The machine was loaded with a tape and ready to play. The hostess and her husband had, in their personal pilgrimage with Christ, come to know many of the Keswick Christian Life Convention preachers and other men who preached the great truths of fullness of life in Christ. In these meetings I heard men like Stephen Olford, who became a life long friend and mentor, Stuart Briscoe, Alan Redpath, G. Allen Fleece and others. Our hostess would introduce the speaker and the topic and for an hour or more all of the "students" would sit with an open Bible, an open notebook and open heart listening to an exposition of God's word. At the conclusion of the sermon our hostess would teach us how to understand and to apply what we had heard. We would then take a break and have a piece of cake and some coffee or a soda and then return to the den to repeat the process again...yes, two hours of preacing and as much time as needed for application. It was in the months that I attended the "Second Monday Night" meeting that I was introduced to the Keswick Christian Life Convention in England. The mission and message of Keswick became a primary influence in shaping my theology and my understanding of New Testament Christianity.

For over 25 years a Keswick Convention was held for one week every March in Birmingham, Alabama. I was blessed to be involved in that convention for many years. For a time I served on the Board and also served as Chairman of the Board. Since that time I have attended the English Keswick twice. It has been my dream to one day preach in the the historic English Keswick...mainly because I have wanted to personally thank the dear folk of Keswick for the impact the ministry has had on my life. I have preached at Keswick Conventions in the states, Trinidad &Tobago, and Japan. The Keswick Conventions in Japan still follow the traditional English Keswick pattern and the committees there are quite serious about maintaining the integrity of the Keswick Message in Japan. It will be my privilege to preach at five Japan conventions in February.

My love for Keswick is not difficult to understand. It was because of the Keswick Convention that I was introduced to people who discovered their possessions in Christ and then made it their life mission to tell others how to enter into all of their spiritual possessions. Jesus came that we might have abundant life. (John 10:10) This life is available to every born again Christian...but it is not experienced by every Christian. Have you entered into fullness of life in Christ?

HAPPY NEW YEAR...2012

We are on the threshold of a new year. In just a few hours we will cross the threshold into 2012. These are moments of reflection and contemplation. Most of us find it difficult to believe that 2011 is gone and is now in the anals of history. It is only when we sit quietly and reflectively that we are aware of all that the last year held. As a pastor I reflect upon on the events in my own life and the events in the lives of the people I shepherd. There have been times of laughing and times of weeping. There have been mountain tops and there have been valleys. Even now I think of many of those with whom I rejoiced and the many with whom I wept.

These moments of contemplation remind me that God is God and we are not...and that God is absolutley sovereign and we are not. We have experienced again and again the truthfulness of His word in such passages as Romans 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to thosw who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. God is in control, and even if our lives, our nation and our world seem to be coming apart at the seams God is still God and He is still on the Throne. For this great truth I am exceedingly thankful.

Today I was reading the biography of George Muller by F.G. Warne. The first chapter opens with a quote by Bishop Taylor. In beautiful, picturesque lanuage Bishop Tayor describes the power of our sovereign God. So have I seen the sun with a little ray of distant light challenge all the powers of darkness, and without violence and noise, climbing up the hill, hath made night so to retire that its memory was lost in the joy and springliness of the morning. Here we have it, the power of God to dispel the darkness with one little ray of light.

Each year I select a verse for the year. A few years back I chose Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. This was just the verse for that bygone year. I held onto it throughout the year and received comfort, encouragement and hope its promise.

This year I have returned to Jeremiah 29 for my verse. This year the longing of my heart is that I might know a deeper longing for God. This, my 61st year of life, is a year that I want to know the Lord more intimately, personally and powerfully than ever before. This year I am captured by Jeremiah 29:13, And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I pray that this will be an "All of my heart" year for Jesus.

As I wish you a Happy New year I am praying that 2012 will be a Jeremiah 29:13 year for you.

God's Mighty Army

Five college students spending a Sunday in London went to hear the famed C.H. Spurgeon. While awaiting the doors to open, they were greeted by a man asking, "Gentlemen, may I show you around? Let me show you the 'heating plant' of this church." Being a hot day in July, they were not particularly interested. Not wanting to offend the stranger, they consented. The young men were quietly ushered down a stairway, where a door was reverently opened as the guide whispered, "This is our heating plant!" They were surprised to see 700 people bowed in prayer, seeking God's blessing on the service soon to begin in the auditorium above. As he closed the door, their guide introduced himself- he was none other than Spurgeon himself.

Spurgeon credited his success to his praying church members declaring, "Among all the formative influences that go to make up a man honored of God in the ministry, I know of none more mighty than the intercession of his parishioners. Without it, he will most likely be a failure."

Spurgeon's praying congregation was at the heart of his historic ministry. Every pastor should have the confidence that his congregation is praying for him as he serves the people, prepares his messages and preaches the word of God. What a difference the prayers of the people can and will make.

It has been a long time since I last posted. Seems like life gets to going so fast that it is difficult to find the time to sit down and post comments and thoughts that are hopefully helpful and insightful. Dr. Robert G. Witty, a long time friend and mentor, lived to be 100 years and six months old. He was one of my dearest friends. He taught Bible classes in his assisted living home and Sunday School at his home church up to just two weeks before he died. In his 90's Dr. Witty hosted two websites (I wish the sites were still up). He told me the computer had given him the opportunity to minister to the world. He posted Bible Studies, Sermons, Helpful Pastoral Hints and much, much more. He knew how to seize opportunities...he knew how to make oppotunities. He would often say, "Find a wave and ride it...or make a wave and ride it." This was his way of saying...always be moving forward, advancing the cause of Christ.

I sit here in my home study today, a rainy Labor Day, reminded that at my finger tips is a machine and technology through which I can speak to people around the world. I think I am going to start using this opportunity for good and for God more often.

Is there a place on the planet where first century Christianity meets 21st century Christianity? Yes, probably many such places still exist and I have just returned from such a place. I have just returned from Hyderabad, India, the state capital of Andhra Pradesh. I had the privilege of spending ten days with my friend, Edgar Sathuluri, Founder and Director of NATIVE Minisitres...NATIVE- Nationals Training Institute for Village Evangelism.

First century activities can still be seen in the villages and towns of Andhra Pradesh. While preaching in village churches I watched shepherds herding their sheep past the open front door of the church. I saw ox drawn carts pass by and people cooking Sunday lunch on the open fires in the church yard. However, these scenes are not the real reason my mission to India prompted thoughts of a first century world. The real flesh and blood connection of Hyderabad to my understanding of first century Christianity is a man...my friend, Edgar Sathuluri.

Many who meet Edgar for the first time find themselves saying what most folk who have known him for a while have been saying all along: Edgar Sathuluri is a modern day Apostle Paul. I have heard myself describe in with this comparison many times. Mind you, Edgar would never say that about himself. But, nonetheless, there are many similiarites in Paul and Edgar. Edgar has devoted himself to singleness, in God's will, in order to give himself more completely to ministry. Edgar gathers around him men whom he can disciple and who in turn will disciple others...the Paul/Timothy model. He has been persecuted. He has seen miracles. He plants churches....and more.

Today nearly 130 New Testament churches have been planted in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka States. These churches minister to nearly 22 people groups belonging to various tribes. NATIVE now has over 72 staff who stand along Edgar in carrying out this work.

NATIVE ministries include Distance Learning Through Tapes (CD). Edgar has personally translated hundreds of Dr. Stephen Olford's and Dr. Adrian Roger's sermons into Telugu. These tapes, plus notes and tape players are provided to pastors for their personal enrichment and training for pastoral ministry. NATIVE sponsors Medical Camps, Children's Ministry, (Did you know that the number of children in India exceeds the entire population of the United States?). NATIVE provides conferences for pastors and women, Prayer Hut construction and film ministries....and more.

I have known Edgar since 1992. I was attending a Stephen Olford Institute for Biblical Preaching in Memphis, TN. Edgar was there as an intern to Dr. Olford. I invited Edgar to join a pastor friend and myself for dinner one evening. In our conversation I asked Edgar to pray for me regarding a decision I needed to make but was fearful of the costs and consequences of the decision. Edgar strongly admonished me....in a prophetic manner....to obey God. That night I became extremely ill. By morning I found myself in hospital with acute appendicitis. My noon I was in surgery. (I still wonder if that was my Jabbok?). Today this day I connect Edgar to that experience....in a positive way.

In 2000 Edgar was in hospital in Birmingham for a heart procedure when a sudden spike in blood pressure resulted in a near fatal stroke which was followed by brain surgery. I spent days in the hospital initially, until Edgar was "out of the woods". Then I visited regularly during his rehab. Our hearts and lives were forever meshed as brothers in Christ and fellow servants in the Master's Vineyard. My church was the first speaking assignment when Edgar was released from hospital. He has since been with me numerous times. His presence is the pulpit always....always brings with it the anointing of God's power and presence.

I went to Hyderabad in December, 2001, not long after Edgar returned home from his extended stay in Birmingham. I have just returned from my second visit, 2010.

I am a blessed pastor. God gave me a pastor/missionary heart when He called me to ministry over 40 years ago. I have been privileged to serve some good missional churches in my tenure as a pastor. Today, I serve a church that has missions in its DNA. Deerfoot Baptist Church, Trussville, Alabama (http://www.deerfootbaptist.org/ ) is a missional church. It is a giving church and a going church. In my six year tenure the Lord has called five high school students to vocational missions and He is currently stirring up the nest of others. The Deerfoot family has sponsored the building of churches and has sent construction teams to Romanina. Deerfoot has funded the building of eight Prayer Huts (churches) in the Hyderabad region. My recent mission to NATIVE was to conduct a Pastor's Conference for over 250 pastors and church leaders (financially underwritten by DBC) and to visit the eight Prayer Huts and conduct services of dedication.

I am back home now, but not altogether. I left something in Hyderabad. As an Ambassador for Christ and for the flock I serve...I left some material things for NATIVE ministry. But most importantly I left expressions of love, a touch ,a smile, an embrace, words of encouragement and hope. I left with the people of India the Good News that God loves them and Christ died for them. I left hours and hours of lectures with over 250 pastors and a piece of my own heart with them. I left love, instruction, admonition and hopefully some inspiration. But I also brought something home with me...I brought a new awareness that the God of the first century is the same God of the 21st century. I brought home a consciousness that His arm has not shortened, His power has not diminised, His purposes have not changed, His love still reaches to the uttemost and there is still Power in His Blood.

Would you pray for Edgar and the great work he is doing to reach his own people for Christ?

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I have just returned from my second trip to Japan and my first ministry experience in South Korea. My ministry purpose in Japan was to do a follow up event to the recent Franklin Graham Crusade. Grace Mission Church, under the leadership of Dr. Ken Horiuchi, planned a Bible Convention as a follow up ministry with the messages intentionally targeting the Christian Life. I preached a series of sermons from First John on The Signs (or evidences) of Life. God blessed the ministry of His word in a wonderful way.

I also spent two days in Hiroshima. The visit to this city had an sobering impact on my life. Two wonderful pastors and a missionary took me on a tour of the A-Bomb Memorial. I will never forget that experience. I also conducted a brief Bible Convention in Hiroshima and again witnessed the blessings of God upon His word. He fulfilled His promise to honor the preaching of His word.

Dr. Horiuchi arranged for us to travel to Seoul for two days. I visited several churches and met with several pastors. The fellowship was good and the experience was educational. I saw first hand the great work God is doing through His people in South Korea. I had the privelege of preaching in the historic Sanjunghyun Presbyterian Church. This was an honor I will never forget.

The Christians in Japan and Korea are very devout. They love the Lord Jesus Christ and serve Him faithfully and sacrificially. I pray that I will grow to be a Christian of similiar maturity and courage.

A Tribute To Dr. John Phillips

Dr. John Phillips went home to be with the Lord on July 25, 2010. He was 83 years old. I made two trips to Winston-Salem to see Bro. John and Betty and the family in the two weeks prior to his death. I returned to be with the family and to assist with the funeral after his death. This seemed to be such an insignificant thing for me to do in light of Bro. John's profound influence upon my life.

Howard John Phillips was born February 11, 1927 in Newport, South Wales, in the United Kingdom to Leonard and Ruth Louisa Anstice Phillips. He spent his entire adult life studying the Bible, teaching the Bible and writing Bible commentaries. He published over 50 books. Dr. Phillips served in the British Army in Palestine during the closing years of the British Mandate, and witnessed the events which led up to the rebirth of the state of Israel. He moved to Canada after World War II, where he worked for a British Bank, married and in time founded a small church. Later, he joined the staff of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as Assistant Director of their Correspondence School. He also taught in Evening Extension School and spoke regularly over the Moody Radio Network. In addition, he served as Director of the Emmaus Correspondence School, at the time the largest school of its kind in the world. Bro. John earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary.

Bro. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean. I also had the privelege of knowing Jean. She was a precious lady and was a frequent source of encouragement to me. I assisted Dr. Stephen Olford in conducting Jean's memorial service. It was during her battle with cancer and her death that brought me into a close relationship with her family.

About 12 years was asked to conduct the wedding of Bro. John and Betty Jean Ferrell. I will never forget that day in Glasgow, Kentucky. I was honored to be a part of this special time in Bro. John's and Betty's lives. Today Betty is devoting her life to the continued publication of Bro. John's books in English as well as other translations. Already his books are published in Chinese, Spanish and Korean. Betty has a vision to see Bro. John's works published in many translations and made available to pastors and church leaders in other countries. This vision is coming true!!

I first met John Phillips in Gadsden, Alabama in the early 1970's. He was conducting a Bible Conference for my good friend Don Graham. I was a young pastor, newly married and broke. But I bought his commentary on Romans. Over the years I have added all of his other books to my collection. When Kregel took over the publishing of Dr. Phillip's books they asked me to write a blurb for the books. I did write the blurb and it expresses exactly how I feel about the influence of John Phillip's pen. Here is what I said, If John Phillips were an artist he would be numbered among the masters. Paper is canvas, words are his oils, and the pen is his brush. With these instruments he has produced the Exploring commentaries. For more than 35 years now Dr. Phillip's books have been my constant companions. As a busy pastor I turn to them for instrution, illumination, illustration and even alliteration- and I never go away disappointed.

In 1992, I went to Memphis to serve on the staff of the Stephen Olford Center for Biblical Preaching. This was a dream come true for me. I had been a pastor for 22 years at that time and Dr. Olford had been my friend and mentor even before I became a pastor. I repeat, it was a dream come true to be able to travel with, work with, pray with, talk with and fellowship with my mentor. Dr. Stephen Olford is the greatest preacher I have ever known and was also the most Christ-like man I have ever known. It was during these years that my friendship with John Phillips, who was a regular preacher and teacher at the Olford Center, really deepened.

I write this tribute out of a profound love and appreciation for Dr. John Phillps. I write this tribute to encourage a younger generation of preachers and Bible teachers to get acquainted with his books, The Exploring Commentaries, published by Kregel. I promise you will be blessed in your personal life and enriched in your ministry life.

I have never known a more disciplined student of the Bible. If anyone had any question about how he mined such deep and insightful truths from the Scriptures you would only have to watch him to know the answer. He studied his Bible night and day. He loved the word of God.

Thank you Brother John for your mentorship, your friendship and for your faithfulness to the Word of God.

Anti-Gambling Rally in Montgomery, February 23, 2010 Fourteen members of Deerfoot Baptist Church attended the rally on Tuesday to represent our congregation, community and the Lord in a public denouncement of legalized gambling in Alabama. We arrived early and found our place near the podium and patiently waited for the crowd to gather and for the rally to begin. To my amazement the pro-gambling crowd showed up in full force for our rally. The pro-legalized gambling rally was scheduled to start at 2:00 pm. However, this group decided to "crash" our rally. The pro-gamblers displayed a conduct and attitude that further confirmed in my mind why I am so opposed to legalized gambling. They showed no respect for Governor Riley or any of the other speakers. They crowded the podium and shouted down our speakers. (Keep in mind this is not even their rally! Their rally was scheduled to start at 2pm.) The rudeness, disrespect and obvious lack of understanding that church is about Christ, the Bible and exalting God...not a place to play bingo all confirmed to me that I do not want this kind of people wielding power and influence in our state. They showed no regard for the law at the rally...and I am sure this is how they live their lives day by day. I go to church AND play bingo. These words were actually on signs held by some of the pro-gambling people. I suggest they replace bingo with a Bible and go to church to worship the true and living God rather than to play bingo. My prayer is that our state legislators will have the spiritual backbone to say no to the gambling crowd. RDW

Today is November 26, 2009, Thanksgiving Day! I have paused several times throughout the day to give thanks to God for His blessings upon my life. He has been good to me. He has provided for me beyond my expectations.

Today I am thankful for the great saints of God who have gone before me, and us, who paid the ulitmate price that we might have the rights, and the freedom to worship and serve Him.

The photo is of Oxford Martyrs' memorial in Oxford, England where three Anglican Bishops were burned at the stake under Queen Mary in the 1550's for their faith and their message.

Thomas Cranmer, Nicholas Ridley and Hugh Latimer all died for their belief in Jesus Christ and His Word. Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley were executed on October 16, 1555. It is said that Latimer spoke to his friend Ridley and said, "Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out."

Thomas Cranmer had previously recanted his Protestant teachings, both signing and saying from his pulpit that he recanted and was in full accord with the Queen. But Queen Mary was not convinced of his sincerity and sentenced him to die. When Cranmer was burned at the stake on March 21, 1556, he thrust his right hand into the flames first until it burned away, proclaiming: "I have sinned, in that I signed with my hand what I did not believe in my heart."

When I see such courage for the Faith I wonder ....where are these men (and women) today? Are there those in the 21st century chruch in the West who are willing to pay any price for the advancement of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

I am concerned that we are so self absorbed and entertainment and pleasure oriented that our thoughts are rarely on sacrifice.

Where is the younger generation in the Western Church? I am afraid they have learned to push buttons to increase the volume and dress in worldly fashion and seek that which makes them "feel good", but who know very little about the true costs of discipleship.

Today, may we remember that some paid the ultimate price for their faith.

JAPAN KESWICK CONVENTION, Speakers and Council Members, 2008 One of the great joys of my preaching ministry was the opportunity to preach in a series of Keswick Conventions in Japan. I preached in Osaka, Kyoto, Hakone and Tokyo. I am standing in the center and to my left is Jonathan Lamb, Keswick speaker and current chairman of the English Keswick in Keswick England. Jonathan is a wonderful preacher. He is also associated with Langham Ministries...a contiunation of John R. W. Stott's ministry on a global scale. The Keswick theme is: All One In Christ Jesus!

My Friend and Mentor, Dr. Stephen F. Olford

I was very blessed in the providence of God to know Stephen F. Olford. I first heard him when I was sixteen and I first met him when I was seventeen. For more than 35 years, until his death in August 2004, he was a significant instrument in the hands of God in teaching, mentoring and shaping my life. I am indebted to God for the life of Stephen Olford and for his friendship.

There is no direction in my study room to which I can turn without seeing evidence of Dr. Olford's life. Hanging on my wall, over my desk, is beautiful verse, a dupicate of the one that hung in Dr. Olford's study. It contains a saying by the Scottish preacher, Robert Murray McCheyne: "Oh God, make me as holy as a saved sinner can be.", taken form I Peter 1:16.

The line that I think of most often is the sentence from a letter to Stephen Olford from his father, a line that became a turning point in his life. "Only one life, 'Twill soon be past, Only what is done for Christ will last."

I encourage younger pastors to find an older man of God who has walked with God and attach yourself to him, spend time with him and learn from him.

Preparing For The Lord's Day

What do you do to prepare for Sunday and your time of fellowship with the people of God and your worship of God? Are you intentional in your preparation? I direct these thoughts to myself first and foremost. Certainly the pastor should be prepared for worship and preaching and ministry. But so should the members of the congregation. The question is sometimes asked: Does good listening make good preaching or does good preaching make good listening? The answer is: Both! However, when the people in the congregation come to church with a sense of anticipation of what God is going to do and say it makes a big difference. For me preparation for Sunday includes the routine study and prayer of a pastor, but it also includes guarding Saturday and being careful with the use of my time and energy. I generally seclude myself to my study by Saturday afternoon and do not engage in social events or anything that requires time, or physical and emotional energy. I do this in order to assure that I am rested and alert for the Lord's Day as much as possible. I encourage you, fellow Christian, to think seriously about preparation for worship. Worship is not controlled by a switch that is turned on at 10:30 on Sunday morning and is turned off at 12:05 on Sunday afternoon. How we worship God Monday through Saturday has a direct affect on how we worship Him on Sunday! Soli Deo Gloria, BR

Yesterday, May 24, I had the privilege of speaking at the commencement service of the Glen Iris Baptist School, a ministry of the Glen Iris Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Chris Lamb, pastor of the Glen Iris church is friend with whom I share many common convictions and concerns. I arrived at the special event for the graduating seniors with Bible and commencement address in hand. My thoughts were set on ministering to the graduates and their parents, families and friends. However, I became the receipient of the blessing. In the brief time that it took to conduct the service I observed a remarkable characteristic in all the students. It was instantly apparent that the faculty and administration of Glen Iris School have made an eternally significant investment into the lives of their students. The dress, the manner, the countenance , the speech and conduct of the students all spoke of the loving influence of teachers and pastor. These young people are model citizens and model Christians. In this moment I pause to thank God for those who faithfully serve Christ by sacrifically serving the Lord through Glen Iris Baptist Christian School. Roger Willmore

Think Victory! I wear the blue wrist band containing these words as a reminder to pray for my friends at America's Keswick. I have just returned from a week of ministry at America's Keswick in Whiting, New Jersey. In fact this was my tenth year to have the remarkable privilege of ministering God's word at this historic conference center. My preaching colleague for the week was Dr. Bob Alderman. I enjoyed sitting under his ministry each day as he opened up Romans chapters 5-8. This anointed messenger preached the "Keswick Message", the Life of Victory in Christ with clarity. I believe many came into blessing and victory. It was my joy to preach a series of sermons on the Life of Elijah. One of my greatest honors in going to America's Keswick is the time I have with the Executive Director and CEO, Bill Welte. Bill is a multi-talented man. I mean that in every sense of the word. But more importantly to me... He is one of the most Godly and prayerful men I know. America's Keswick: Where God Speaks to Hearts

The "Keswick Message" impacted my life as a teenager. It was the preaching and Bible teaching of men like Stephen Olford, Ian Thomas, Stuart Briscoe, Allan Redpath, Paul Rees and others that pointed me to a biblical, and I believe, healthy understanding of the Christian Life. I will be eternally indebted to the men of God who faithfully preached the "Normal Christian Life". For the past ten years I have been honored with opportunities to minister at America's Keswick in Whiting, New Jersey. America's Keswick is a modern day miracle. At the heart of the ministry is an Addiction Recovery Ministry called Colony of Mercy. The larger part of this ministry includes Women of Character (ministry to wives of residents), Families for Christ and Addiction Recovery Support Groups. It has been my privilege to see with my own eyes and to hear with my own ears testimonies of miracles as the Lord has transformed these men and their families into trophies of Grace. In just a few weeks I will be preaching at America's Keswick Summer Conference. It has been my good fortune to have been associated with this ministry for over ten years.
